How did we get our start?
It all started with the TubShroom Drain Protector Hair Catcher. The options that were available to us at the store weren't cutting it, so we went to the drawing board and looked to mother nature for inspiration.
What problem are we solving?
Quite simply, we wanted to eliminate the need for harmful chemicals in our drains and homes. Millions of gallons of drain cleaners are being used to clear clogged drains. Most importantly, we want to put a stop to the manufacture of acid-based chemical cleaners that pollute our waters.

SAVE MONEY, PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT – With this bathtub and shower hair catcher, there are no harsh chemicals damaging your pipes and the environment. A plumber visit can be costly, and drain snakes and liquid drain cleaners aren’t always effective. AWARD-WINNING, UNIQUE DESIGNS – The award-winning TubShroom famly of drain catchers now protect over ten million drains worldwide. SinkShroom, ShowerShroom, DrainShroom, and StopShroom products can save you hundreds.
The TubShroom Toss Disposable Hair Strainer is made to work on virtually any bathtub drain. Simply remove any stopper that may already be in place and stick a single waterproof degradable drain strainer in place, which will prevent loose hairs from entering deep into the drain. Hair is the number one cause of clogged drains because of the way long strands clump together deep inside the drain--forming a messy block that water can't get through. With this 21 pack, you can avoid touching the nasty hair by simiply lifting the strainer off the drain and tossing it out in the trash along with all the collected hair. Works great with both human and pet hair! Directions: First, clean and completely dry the drain surface. Then, remove any drain stopper that may be in place before putting the Toss strainer inside the drain. After several weeks, the strainer may be full, so you then have to lift the strainer off the drain for quick disposal.
Frequently Asked Questions
I want a hair catcher that does not add visual clutter. Is this the right one?
Yes. The TubShroom Toss is intentionally low-profile. It sits nearly flush with the drain and uses a neutral white mesh, so it does not introduce any extra objects, colors, or hardware into your bathroom.
How simple is the install for someone who hates complicated products?
Peel the adhesive backing, press the strainer onto a clean dry drain, and you are done. There are no tools, no assembly, and no instructions to memorize. The whole process takes a few seconds.
Does this require any ongoing maintenance?
No maintenance. After 3 to 4 weeks you lift the full strainer out and toss it in the trash. There is nothing to rinse, scrub, dry, or store between uses, which is the whole point of the disposable design.
Will the 21-pack add clutter to my bathroom storage?
The 21-pack is a single compact box that holds a full year of replacements. You can tuck it in a drawer, linen closet, or under the sink and only pull out a single strainer at a time.
Is this a better minimalist choice than a reusable silicone strainer?
For many people, yes. A reusable strainer has to live on the drain, in a caddy, or on the counter while it dries. The Toss is used briefly and then disappears into the trash, leaving your bathroom with fewer objects to manage.
I prefer 'one and done' products. Does the TubShroom Toss fit that philosophy?
Exactly. Each strainer is a single-use item. There is no cleaning, no second life, and no decisions to make about whether to reuse it. You peel, stick, wait, and toss.
Can I use this without thinking about it for a month?
Yes. Once installed, the Toss quietly does its job in the background. You do not need to monitor it, rinse it, or adjust it. After about 3 to 4 weeks, you simply replace it.
Does the white color match a neutral, minimal bathroom palette?
White is the most common bathtub color and works with virtually any neutral palette. The strainer essentially disappears into the drain, which is the ideal outcome for a minimalist space.
I do not like products with extra packaging. How is this one packaged?
The 21 strainers come in a simple, compact box. There are no plastic clamshells, no extra inserts, and no accessories. You open the box, take a strainer, and close it back up.
Is this less wasteful than a reusable catcher that has to be cleaned with soap?
It depends on your perspective. The Toss is designed to be discarded, but because it is a degradable mesh, it breaks down in landfill. Many minimalists prefer the simplicity of a disposable item over the ongoing water and soap use of cleaning a reusable strainer.
How does the TubShroom Toss compare to the original TubShroom for simplicity?
The original TubShroom is reusable and has to be cleaned regularly, which some people find fussy. The Toss is the simplest possible version: install, wait, toss. For a less-is-more household, it is the easier choice.
Will I need to buy anything else to make this work?
No. The strainer is self-contained. It includes its own adhesive backing and needs no additional tools, cleaners, or accessories. The 21-pack is everything you need for about a year.
Does the strainer interrupt the clean lines of a modern tub?
No. Because it is flat, white, and sits inside the drain, it does not interrupt tile lines, grout, or the edge of the tub. The visual geometry of your bathroom remains untouched.
Can I commit to this product with very little effort?
Yes. The 21-pack is essentially a year-long, no-thought solution. You set a reminder to swap it every 3 to 4 weeks and otherwise never think about your drain again.
Is there a learning curve to using it correctly?
Almost none. As long as the drain is clean and dry before installation, the adhesive will hold. The only common mistake is applying it to a wet drain, which prevents the adhesive from bonding.
I am downsizing and want fewer bathroom gadgets. Does this replace anything?
It can replace drain snakes, chemical cleaners, and reusable hair catchers, all of which take up space under the sink or in the closet. The Toss collapses all of that into one small box.
How do I install the TubShroom Toss disposable drain strainer?
Make sure the drain surface is clean and completely dry. Peel the protective backing off the adhesive ring, center the strainer over the drain opening, and press firmly for a few seconds. The waterproof adhesive will hold under running water for the full 3 to 4 week cycle.
How often should I replace the TubShroom Toss?
Most users replace it every 3 to 4 weeks, depending on how much hair is being caught. When the mesh starts to look full or water begins to drain more slowly, lift the entire strainer out by the tab and toss it in the trash.
Can I reuse the strainer instead of throwing it away?
Yes. While it is designed for convenient single-use disposal, you can pull the collected hair off, rinse the mesh, and reinstall it if you prefer. Many users get weeks or even months out of a single strainer this way.
Will the TubShroom Toss fit my bathtub drain?
It is designed to fit virtually any standard bathtub drain. The mesh and adhesive ring flex slightly to accommodate common drain sizes, including 1.5 inch drains in older homes that often reject thicker plastic strainers.
Can I use this in my sink drain as well as the bathtub?
Yes. Many customers install the Toss upside down in bathroom or utility sink drains to act as a debris catcher. It works well for catching toothpaste, jewelry-stopper debris, lint from facecloths, and pet hair during sink baths.
What comes in the box when I order the 21-pack?
You receive 21 individually backed disposable drain strainers, enough for approximately one year of monthly replacements plus a few extras. No additional tools, adhesives, or accessories are required.
Is the strainer safe for septic systems and older plumbing?
Yes. The Toss is purely mechanical and contains no chemicals, so it is safe for septic tanks, PVC, cast iron, and older copper pipes. In fact, many users with old houses report that it dramatically reduces the need for chemical or mechanical drain treatments.
Will the adhesive damage my tub or leave residue behind?
The waterproof adhesive is engineered to hold during use and release cleanly when you pull the strainer off. It does not stain or permanently mark porcelain, acrylic, enamel, or fiberglass finishes when used as directed.
What is the difference between the TubShroom Toss and the original TubShroom?
The original TubShroom is a reusable mushroom-shaped strainer that sits inside the drain and has to be cleaned regularly. The TubShroom Toss is a flat, disposable mesh disc that is replaced every few weeks for zero-contact cleanup. Many users prefer the Toss for its convenience and lower-profile look.
