Connection Instructions

TAKE NOTE: the LED Strips maximum run length is 5 meters. After the maximum run length the voltage drop becomes too great and you will lose light and efficiency from your system. If your application needs more than the maximum run length you will have to get another power supply or run wire from the extra strip directly back to the first power supply (wiring in parallel).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 6000K daylight actually better for focus than warm light?

Cool daylight color temperatures in the 5000K–6500K range are widely associated with alertness, contrast, and visual acuity, which is why offices and studios use them. For a home office, study desk, or workbench, 6000K keeps text, code, and fine detail crisp.

Can I dim the strip down for screen time and back up for focused work?

Yes. Pair the strip with a 12V dimmer controller and you can tune brightness to the task. Many users run it at 30–50% during video calls and crank it to 100% for reading, drafting, or detailed work.

Will the bright output on my desk cause glare on my monitor?

Indirect placement is the trick. Mount the strip behind the monitor, under a shelf, or along a cove aimed at the ceiling or wall, not directly toward your eyes. Indirect daylight bounce fills the room with bright light without reflecting off the screen.

Is one 16.4ft roll enough to light a home office?

For most single-desk or L-shaped desk setups, one run along the back of the desk, a shelf, or a ceiling cove is plenty. For a full room, plan two runs: one for ambient fill and one for task lighting above the work surface.

Can I automate the strip to follow my work schedule?

Yes. Plug the 12V power supply into a smart plug or smart switch, and you can schedule on/off times, sunrise triggers, or focus mode routines alongside your other smart office devices.

How does this compare to a traditional desk lamp for productivity?

A desk lamp lights a small pool on the desk. A strip along the back of the desk, a shelf, or a cove fills the whole room with even light, which reduces eye strain from a bright desk against a dark room. Many people use both together.

How does this compare to a standard single-row strip for a workbench?

Single-row strips leave dark gaps and hot spots on shallow surfaces. Triple-row 360 LEDs/m gives uniform light across a workbench or desk, so you're not hunting for shadow-free zones when soldering, crafting, or doing detail work.

Will the strip flicker or buzz on camera during video calls?

At a proper 12V DC drive the strip is flicker-free and silent, which is what you want for Zoom, Teams, and streaming. Cheap dimmers using PWM at low frequency can introduce flicker, so pair the strip with a quality high-frequency dimmer.

Is the strip bright enough for detailed craft, sewing, or model work?

At 3022LM/m, yes. Mounted under a shelf or inside a task lamp enclosure aimed at the work surface, the strip delivers serious task-level brightness for sewing, electronics, model building, and other precision work.

Can I run the strip all day without it overheating?

Yes. The 12V DC drive keeps heat output low, and on an open desk or shelf install, the strip dissipates that heat easily. For 8+ hour daily use, an aluminum channel is a nice upgrade for heat sinking and longevity.

Will the strip interfere with my Wi-Fi or other electronics?

No. LED strip lighting is not a meaningful source of EMI at typical residential distances. Keep the power supply away from sensitive audio gear if you're picky, but a normal desk install is clean.

Is the 6000K color temperature going to look too sterile for long work sessions?

Personal preference varies, but daylight color temperatures are widely used in offices for a reason. If you find 6000K too cool for evening work, drop brightness with the dimmer and consider a separate warm lamp for after-hours ambient fill.

How do I install this LED strip light?

Plan your layout and measure the run. Cut the strip only on the marked cut lines every 9 LEDs. Peel the 3M backing, press firmly onto a clean, dry surface, wire the strip to a 12V DC power supply matching the wattage, and add a dimmer controller if desired.

What power supply do I need?

A regulated 12V DC power supply rated for at least the total wattage of the strip run. A 5-meter roll typically needs a 12V 5A (60W) supply. Use a UL-listed driver and leave 20% headroom for long-term reliability.

How do I cut and reconnect the strip?

Cut only along the marked lines between the copper pads. To reconnect, either solder jumper wires to the pads or use 4-pin solderless clip connectors. Make sure polarity is consistent across all connected pieces.

Is this strip compatible with standard 12V LED dimmers?

Yes. It works with any 12V DC LED dimmer controller sized for the run, including inline knob dimmers, RF remotes, and smart Wi-Fi dimmers. Match the dimmer's amperage to the strip's draw for smooth, flicker-free dimming.

Will this work with my existing 12V battery, solar setup, or off-grid power?

Yes. Any clean 12V DC source in the 11V–14.4V range will run the strip. Common matches include car batteries, motorcycle batteries, 12V solar charge controllers, and portable 12V lithium power stations.

What comes in the box?

One 16.4ft (5m) roll of LED strip in the variant you selected (IP20 or IP67). A 12V DC power supply, dimmer controller, connectors, and aluminum mounting channel are typically sold separately so you can size them to your project.

Is this LED strip safe to leave on for long periods?

Yes. 12V DC operation and efficient SMD 2835 LEDs keep the strip cool to the touch, and the strip is rated for tens of thousands of hours of continuous use. Use a UL-listed power supply and avoid sealing the strip in an airtight enclosure.

What is the warranty and what if a section stops working?

The strip is covered against manufacturing defects. If a section fails, you can cut out the affected segment on the cut lines and link in a replacement piece rather than replacing the entire roll, which makes troubleshooting straightforward.

What's the difference between an LED strip light and LED rope light?

LED strip lights are flat, flexible tape with closely spaced surface-mount LEDs, cuttable to length, and ideal for hidden installs under cabinets, in coves, and along edges. LED rope light is a thicker cylindrical tube with widely spaced LEDs inside, typically used for outline and holiday lighting and not cuttable to fine increments.
